An FFFE code is different from FFFF and FFFC: instead of a lost connection to the AC unit, it means the AirTouch console has lost communication with its own gateway module. The gateway is the piece of hardware that lets the console and the AC unit exchange information, so when this link drops, zoning and AC control can stop working properly.
This fault is usually traced back to the gateway itself rather than the ducted AC unit. It can be caused by incorrect DIP-switch settings on the gateway, a wiring break between the console or mainboard and the gateway, or a gateway module that has failed.
