An H99 code is a freeze protection fault, triggered when ice starts forming on the indoor coil, and it’s most commonly seen in cooling mode. The unit shuts down to stop the ice building up further and damaging the coil or fan.
Restricted airflow across the coil is the usual cause, most often from dirty filters, though a cooler room or low refrigerant charge can also bring the coil temperature down enough to trigger it. In many cases this is resolved with routine filter and coil servicing carried out by a technician.
Send us the code and a photo of the display, and a Ford & Doonan technician will get back to you. Please don't reset the unit before you take the photo.
