An H97 code could mean the outdoor fan motor mechanism has locked up. This fan draws air across the outdoor coil to release or absorb heat depending on whether you’re cooling or heating, so when it stops turning properly, the unit can’t perform this exchange and shuts down.
The blockage can be as simple as debris or ice caught in the fan blades, or it can point to a failing motor bearing, a fault in the outdoor control board, or a mismatch between the motor’s actual and expected rotation speed.
Send us the code and a photo of the display, and a Ford & Doonan technician will get back to you. Please don't reset the unit before you take the photo.
