The E1 error code is the outdoor unit’s version of an A1 fault: it means the outdoor unit’s main control board has failed its own internal self-check. As the outdoor unit houses the compressor and drives much of the system’s operation, a fault here can bring the whole system to a stop.
This code can stem from a genuine failure on the control board itself, or from wiring problems in the connections linking the indoor and outdoor units together.
