The A1 error code could point to a fault with the indoor unit’s main control board, also known as the PCB. This board runs an internal self-check each time the system starts, and an A1 code can appear when that check doesn’t pass.
A PCB fault like this can be triggered by a genuine component failure on the board, corrupted firmware or memory, or damage from electrical interference or a power surge. In some cases, moisture getting into the indoor unit can also affect the board’s electronics.
Send us the code and a photo of the display, and a Ford & Doonan technician will get back to you. Please don't reset the unit before you take the photo.
