E458 could indicate a fault with the outdoor condenser fan, the fan that pulls air across the outdoor coil to release heat from the system. When this fan fails to operate correctly, the outdoor unit can’t dissipate heat properly and the system shuts down to protect itself.
Because the condenser fan is essential to the whole heat-exchange process, this fault typically shows up alongside reduced cooling performance or the outdoor unit cutting out shortly after starting. It’s most often a mechanical or wiring issue at the fan itself.
Send us the code and a photo of the display, and a Ford & Doonan technician will get back to you. Please don't reset the unit before you take the photo.
