Samsung ERROR CODE E162

Samsung E162 Error Code Troubleshooting

E162 is an EEPROM error, which relates to the memory chip on the indoor unit’s control board rather than a mechanical part of the system. This memory stores the settings and programming the board needs to operate correctly, and when that data becomes corrupted the unit can’t run properly until it’s cleared or the board is reprogrammed.

Unlike sensor or fan faults, this one is purely electronic in nature, and it’s often linked to something disrupting power to the board at the wrong moment. A repeat fault usually points to a hardware problem that needs a technician to properly diagnose.

Common Reasons You May See An E162 Error Code

  • This fault is typically caused by a power surge or voltage spike, corruption of the control board's firmware, a failing memory chip on the PCB, or a brief brownout occurring while the board was mid-write to its memory.
