E320 and E322 both relate to the outdoor unit’s overload protector, or OLP sensor, which exists to protect the compressor from running too hot. E320 indicates the sensor circuit is open, while E322 indicates it’s short-circuited. Either way, the outdoor board loses its ability to safely monitor compressor temperature.
This protection sensor is a key safeguard for one of the most expensive parts of your system, so the unit is deliberately cautious about shutting down when it can’t read it properly. The fault is usually isolated to the sensor or its wiring rather than the compressor itself.
Send us the code and a photo of the display, and a Ford & Doonan technician will get back to you. Please don't reset the unit before you take the photo.
