Samsung E1, E101 & E102 Error Code Troubleshooting

These codes could point to a breakdown in communication between the indoor unit and the outdoor unit: think of it as the two halves of your system losing the ability to “talk” to each other. Basic non-inverter models usually display this as a simple E1, while split-system inverter models break it down further into E101 or E102 depending on which unit is missing the signal.

The interconnecting cable that carries power and data between the indoor and outdoor units is often at the centre of this fault. When that link is interrupted, damaged, or wired incorrectly, the two control boards can no longer stay in sync and the system shuts itself down as a safety measure.

Common Reasons You May See An E1, E101 or E102 Error Code

  • Loose or damaged interconnecting wiring between the indoor and outdoor units
  • Wiring polarity reversed at one end of the connection
  • A corroded or faulty connector or terminal
  • A damaged control board on either the indoor or outdoor unit
  • A recent power outage that disrupted synchronisation between the two boards

Not sure what your code means? Ask a technician

Send us the code and a photo of the display, and a Ford & Doonan technician will get back to you. Please don't reset the unit before you take the photo.
